街の真ん中で、一匹の猫がこちらを見ている。
逃げるでもなく、媚びるでもない。
ただ、そこに座っている。

彼は世界と距離を取りながら、同時に世界を引き受けている。
人間の事情や評価軸など、最初から眼中にない。

それでも、その佇まいには妙な品位がある。
争わず、誇示せず、自分の輪郭を崩さない強さだ。

猫の世界には、役割も肩書きも存在しない。
あるのは今日を生きることと、今ここに在るという事実だけ。

だからこそ願ってしまう。
君たちの世界には、
妙に威張る奴や、他者を貶める存在が
いないままであってほしい、と。

この静かな視線は、
人間の社会が忘れがちな倫理の原型を思い出させる。
強さとは、他者を踏みつけないことだと。

猫は語らない。
だが、その沈黙が、今日も確かに世界を少しだけ整えている。

In the middle of the city, a cat looks back at me.
It neither runs away nor tries to please.
It simply sits there.

Keeping its distance from the world,
it somehow accepts the world at the same time.
Human affairs and standards of judgment
were never in its field of view to begin with.

And yet, there is a strange dignity in its presence.
It does not fight, it does not boast—
it refuses to blur the outline of itself.

In a cat’s world,
roles and titles do not exist.
There is only the fact of living today,
and the fact of being here, now.

That is why I find myself wishing:
May your world remain free
of those who puff themselves up,
and those who diminish others.

That quiet gaze
recalls an original ethics
that human society too easily forgets—
that strength is not stepping on someone else.

The cat does not speak.
Yet its silence, even today,
surely makes the world
just a little more orderly.
