何年も前、
ある支えと関わった時期があった。

久しぶりにかかってきた電話で、
「状況どうですか」と聞かれた。

楽しくやっています。
そう答えたあとに返ってきたのは、

「一応やれてるんですね」

その一言だった。

きっとその人は、
今のアルトを
知らないままなのだろう。

人は簡単に人を量る。
肩書きや、
声の温度や、
目の前の景色だけで。

けれど振り返れば、
そういう言葉を受けたあとに限って、
いつも不思議な縁がやってきた。

静かに、
素敵な時計が
人生に現れる。

嫌な出来事は、
人を止めるためにあるんじゃない。
生き方の輪郭を深くし、
覚悟を研ぎ、
歩幅を変えずに進ませるためにある。

なめられた数だけ、
人は強くなるんじゃない。
人は、深くなる。

最後に残るのは、
深くなった人間にだけ訪れる縁だ。

Being Underestimated Makes a Life Deeper.

Many years ago,
there was a time
when I was connected
to a certain kind of support.

After a long while,
a call came asking,
“How are things now?”

“I’m enjoying it.”
That was my answer.

What came back was this:

“So, you’re managing somehow.”

That was the line.

Perhaps that person
has never seen
what Alto has become today.

People measure others too easily—
by titles,
by the temperature of a voice,
by nothing more than
the scenery in front of them.

And yet, when I look back,
it was always after words like that
that a strange kind of fate appeared.

Quietly,
a beautiful watch
would enter my life.

Harsh moments do not come
to make a person stop.
They come to deepen
the outline of a life,
to sharpen resolve,
and to keep one walking
without changing stride.

The more you are underestimated,
the more you realize
strength is not the point.

A person becomes deeper.

And in the end,
what remains
is the kind of fate
that comes only
to those who have grown deep.
