焼肉を囲んだ、
初めてのサシ飯。

人生。
仕事。
洋服。
メタル。
BAR。

話は、
いくつもの領域を越えていった。

フレンチの職人と、
洋服屋。

歩んできた道も、
見つめてきた景色も違う。

それでも、
本質に惹かれる者同士の対話は、
不思議と途切れない。

わからないことを、
わかったふりで矮小化しない。

理解できないものを、
自分の尺度だけで断じない。

そこにあるのは、
知識ではなく、
他者の世界を受け入れる寛容さ。

その純粋さと余白が、
人の深度をつくり、
やがて、
言葉を超えた風格になる。

ジェントルマンとは、
すべてを理解する人ではない。

不可解なものを、
不可解なまま、
敬意をもって受け止められる人だ。

What did we talk about?

I no longer remember
every word.

Yakiniku,
shared over our first dinner alone.

Life.
Work.
Clothes.
Metal.
Bars.

The conversation moved
across many different worlds.

A French chef
and a clothing merchant.

The paths we have walked,
and the landscapes we have witnessed,
are not the same.

And yet,
a conversation between those
drawn to the essence of things
somehow never comes to an end.

We do not diminish
what we do not understand
by pretending that we do.

Nor do we judge
the unfamiliar
by the limits of our own measure.

What remains
is not knowledge,

but the generosity
to receive another person’s world
without reducing it.

That purity,
and the space left untouched,
create depth within a person.

In time,
they become a quiet dignity
that transcends words.

A gentleman
is not someone
who understands everything.

He is someone
who can receive the inexplicable
as it is,

and meet it
with respect.
