— DON’T FILL THE VOID. —

The Offspring
Mornings begin with The Offspring at full volume.
Two days off a week. Open from noon to six.
Over the past few years, the hours spent on business have gradually been reduced,
leaving far more space than before.
Some days, there is almost too much time to spare.
But after twenty-four years and 341 days
of making a living with clothes,
one thing has become clear.
Space is not absence.
Stop doing what feels wrong.
Stop forcing things.
Walk away from places that carry a sense of dissonance.
With every refusal, happiness grows.
Of that, there has never been any doubt.
And in fact, the more unnecessary things are stripped away,
the people encountered change,
and so do the relationships that remain.
Connections born from turning anxiety into appointments
rarely have a lasting future.
The density of a schedule
is not the density of a life.
Rather than fearing empty time and rushing to fill it,
choosing what not to let in
has become far more important to the way business is done now.
In the morning,
The Offspring is still blasting through the shop.
There is nothing on the schedule.
And it feels fucking great.
The more you stop doing what you hate,
the better the connections that find you.
Leaving the void unfilled
is part of the business too.
