— 720 LADY — STILL NOTHING. — いまだ、何も起きない。—

一年半ほど前、720 LADYのウールを見ながら思った。
「これ、座り続けたらどうなるんだろう。」

革なら艶が出る。デニムならアタリが出る。
ならば、上質なウールにも何か起きるんじゃないか。
完全に、洋服屋の悪い癖である。

それから、この椅子に座るたびに、立ち上がって見る。触る。
また座る。そんなことを一年半ほど続けている。

そして現在、何も起きていない。

毛並みは元気。形も崩れない。
こちらの期待だけが、順調に育っている。

1951年に生まれた名作へ、七十年以上あとから
勝手に挑んでいるわけだが、いまのところ720 LADYの圧勝。

まあいい。実験は、まだ続ける。

何か起きたら、また報告する。

About a year and a half ago, I looked at the wool of the 720 LADY and wondered,
“What happens if I keep sitting on this?”

Leather develops a patina. Denim develops fades.
So surely, fine wool must show some kind of change too.
A bad habit from spending too many years around clothes.

Since then, whenever I sit in this chair, I get up, look at the wool, and touch it.
Then I sit down again. I’ve been doing that for about a year and a half.

And as of today, nothing has happened.

The wool is still alive and well. The shape hasn’t collapsed.
Only my expectations have continued to grow.

More than seventy years after the 720 LADY was born in 1951,
I’ve decided, entirely on my own, to challenge it.

So far, the 720 LADY is winning.

Fine. The experiment continues.
