YouはShock – 愛で空が落ちてくる

衝撃とは、だいたい予告なくやってくる。
しかも大げさな雷鳴ではなく、
「え、今のなに？」という顔をさせる形で。

人は理屈で世界を理解しているつもりでいるが、
実際はほとんどを勢いと勘と惰性で生きている。
だから想定外の一撃を食らうと、
思考より先に身体がフリーズする。

愛で空が落ちてくる、という表現は大仰だが、
本質はわりと正確だ。
信じていた前提が崩れる瞬間、
世界の重力配分はあっさり変わる。

哲学的に言えば、
それは存在論的リセット。
日常的に言えば、
「全部考え直し」の合図である。

面白いのは、
そういう衝撃を経験した人ほど、
その後やけに落ち着くことだ。
もう一度空が落ちても驚かない。

つまり衝撃は、

In everyday terms,
it’s the signal that says:
“Recalculate everything.”

The interesting part is this—
people who’ve lived through that kind of shock
often become unnervingly calm afterward.
If the sky falls again,
they don’t flinch.

Which suggests that shock isn’t only meant
to break a person.
It can be a device that rebuilds you—
a little wiser,
and with a slightly sharper sense of humor.
