この前、
店でご飯を頼んだ時。

店員さんが、
ドリンクを運んでくる途中で、
盛大にバランスを崩した。

「あっ。」

と思った瞬間にはもう遅くて。

アイスティーが、
ほぼ滝みたいな勢いで、
俺の黒いパンツに直撃した。

見事なくらい。

漫画みたいに濡れた。

店員さん、
顔真っ青。

「申し訳ありません！！」

って、
何回も頭を下げるから。

なんか逆に、
こっちが落ち着かない。

だから、

「大丈夫です。
黒って、
こういう時のための色なんで。」

って言ったら。

一瞬だけ、
空気がふっと緩んだ。

周りのお客さんまで、
ちょっと笑ってた。

たぶん人生って、
格好良く生きることより。

誰かが失敗した瞬間に、
どんな顔をするかの方が、
ずっと大事なんだと思う。

怒ることは簡単で。
責めることも簡単で。

正しさだけ振りかざせば、
人は簡単に強くなれる。

でも。

その場の空気を、
少しだけ軽くできる人の方が、
実はずっと格好いい。

優しさって、
たぶん反射神経だ。

考える前に、
相手を傷つけない方へ、
身体が動くこと。

黒いパンツは濡れたけど。

その日の空気は、
少しだけ綺麗だった。

The other day,
I ordered food at a restaurant.

A server was carrying drinks over,
and suddenly lost balance completely.

The moment I thought,

“Oh.”

it was already too late.

The iced tea came down
like an actual waterfall,
straight onto my black pants.

Perfect hit.

Soaked like something out of a cartoon.

The server’s face
instantly went pale.

“I’m so sorry!!”

They kept bowing over and over again.

Honestly,
it started making me feel uncomfortable instead.

So I said,

“It’s okay.
Black exists
for moments like this.”

And for just a second,

the whole atmosphere softened.

Even the people around us
started laughing a little.

Maybe life isn’t really about
trying to look cool.

Maybe what matters more is
the face you make
when someone else fails.

Getting angry is easy.
Blaming someone is easy.

If all you do is swing around “being right,”
anyone can look strong.

But honestly,

the people who can make the air
a little lighter in moments like that
are the ones who are truly cool.

Kindness is probably instinct.

Before you even think,
your body moves toward
not hurting someone.

My black pants got soaked.

But somehow,
the air that day
felt a little cleaner.
