その綴るを読んで、
一本のメールをいただいた。
2016年12月。
まだZODIACだった頃。
黒だけではなく、
アメリカの匂いも色濃く提案していた時代。
一本のお電話をいただき、
翌日には遠方から駆けつけてくださった。
重厚なエンジン音を響かせながら。
今でも、
その日の高揚感を鮮明に覚えている。
選んでいただいたのは、

East West “SMOKE”

服を売った記憶ではない。
好きな物を前にした時の、
あの少年のような眼差し。
革に触れた瞬間の熱。
心から嬉しそうに笑っていた姿。
その景色が、
今も記憶に残っている。
10年という時間は、
物の価値を決める。
けれど本当に残るのは、
革でもブランドでもない。
その物を通して交わした時間。
その物が繋いでくれた縁。
だから、
久しぶりに届いたメールが嬉しかった。
あの日のジャケットが、
今も人生のどこかに残り続けていること。
そして何より、
「近いうちにまた会いましょう。」
その一言が、
鬼ほど嬉しかった。
物は、
人を繋ぐために存在しているのかもしれない。
10年後に残るのは、
革ではない。
共に笑った時間と、
また会いたいと思える人なのだと思う。
静かに歳を重ねながら、
また同じように笑える日を楽しみにしている。

After reading that Chronicle,
I received an email.
December 2016.
Back when we were still ZODIAC.
A time when we proposed not only black,
but the strong scent of America as well.
You called from far away.
And the very next day,
you came all the way to us,
with the heavy pulse of an American engine.
I still remember
the excitement of that day clearly.

It was not a memory of selling clothes.
It was the look in your eyes,
like a boy standing before something he truly loved.
The heat
the moment your hand touched the leather.
The way you smiled
from the bottom of your heart.
That scene
still remains with me.
Ten years
reveals the true value of things.
But what truly remains
is not the leather,
nor the brand.
It is the time shared through that object.
It is the bond
that the object quietly connected.
That is why
your email after all these years
meant so much to me.
That jacket from that day
is still somewhere within your life.
And more than anything,
“Let’s meet again soon.”
Those words
made me unbelievably happy.
Perhaps objects exist
to connect people.
What remains ten years later
is not simply leather.
It is the time we laughed together,
and the person we wish to meet again.
Quietly aging with time,
I look forward to the day
we can laugh the same way once more.
